We stumbled upon Tanonga while searching for luxury Accomodation. The description boasted stunning views and tranquil seclusion which it delivers in abundance. We chose the Ridge Lodge as it's location provides uninterrupted views of the surrounding bush land and the gulf. The winding track leading to the lodge is a taste of the surroundings that make these such a unique destination. The lodge appears on the horizon presented in all it's architectural glory. Upon entering the lodge it is clear that this is a structure designed to compliment and co exist with Mother Nature. The ample windows provide a visual nirvana of what can only be described as living art. The lodge is tastefully decorated and well appointed making for a comfortable experience. With the key focus on sustainability and Eco friendly systems the dwelling leaves a remarkably small footprint. The wildlife is as abundant as it is diverse. We stayed for two nights and wished we stayed longer. We highly recommend this destination for couples looking to get away from it all. " Trip Advisor review

Sweet water sanctury
‘Tanonga’ has the aboriginal meaning ‘sweet water’ referring to the permanent spring, billabong and creek running through the 100 hectare property.
On early settlement maps ‘Tanonga’ was an established homestead and farming property.
Today, thanks to the efforts of your hosts Raimund and Heidi Mueller , Tanonga boasts vast tracts of stunning natural and regenerating native forest, as well as traditional farming land.
Deliberate corridor plantings of over 25,000 native trees, shrubs, understorey grasses and sedges have successfully recreated the woodlands of sheok grass and sugar gum that once dominated the local landscape.
And with this wonderful rejeneration, the natural wildlife has returned in abundance.
Over 100 bird species have been recorded in the area, including rare, vulnerable and endangered species such as the Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo – now often found feeding on the Aleppo pines (Pinus halepensis) on Tanonga from November to March.
Look closer to the ground during winter and early spring and discover a vast array of flowering local plants and orchids.
